“I’m using Frontline Plus and my pet still has fleas.”

-Check first to confirm that you are actually using Frontline and not some other topical OTC product.

-Check to make sure you are and applying Frontline correctly: removing collar, splitting hair, applying to back of head (cats) or between shoulders (dogs), and not petting after application until dried. (Suggest applying before bed.)

-Check to make sure ALL pets are being treated, even indoor only pets.

-Check product expiration date.

“I’m doing all that and I’m still seeing fleas!”

-Animals can always pick up fleas from an outside source (ie. Trips outside, rabbits, squirrels, other dogs that have walked by and dropped flea eggs in the grass). However, if the pet is on Frontline consecutively there is no threat to a household infestation as the fleas will die in 4-18 hours from being in contact with the Frontline.

-Frontline does not instantly disintegrate fleas. It may take from 4-18 hours for the fleas to die and until that time fleas are VERY active and twitchy.

-Try bathing animal once a week to rid them of any flea dirt and dead flea remains in the coat. Wait 24 hours after applying Frontline to bathe. Do NOT use any other shampoos then those that are specifically made for pets. Human products and dish soaps (even Dawn) have degreasing agents that will nullify Fronlines abilities to work properly.

-Owner can also clean the house to assist speeding the effects of Frontline. Vacuuming and washing linens making sure to pay close attention to where the pet likes to lay and also the little cracks, folds in the couch, base boards, corners, ect.

-If outdoor sources are an instigator in the flea management, sprays are available for outdoor lawn use.

-All else fails Merial’s phone number on the Frontline pamplet. They have techs that are more then happy to talk. In talking with Merial if they feel you have followed all the specifications correctly they will provide customers (that brought FL from a Vet Clinic) an exterminator to come into their home. Non-clinic buying customers will be provided a Fronline replacement.
